Large Victorian cutting table
OK, so we get some beautiful items appear at Søren&Faber - most of which I attempt to show even if items get sold straight away. This table is no exception but is aguably out on its own in its greatness! It’s a table which has been used at Søren&Faber for a while now but which is getting ready to move on to make way for a new furniture project.
This table came from a mill in Lancashire and was used to cut material on then wheeled on to the next machine or desk for material to be cut again.
The base and wheels are made of cast iron, the wheels all move and are held in place by split pins (cotter pins in the US) and the moving part at the front to enable the table to be pulled along is in perfect working order. The top is made from pitch pine and is bolted to the base with four huge nuts and bolts. The top comes off for transportation.
This would make a great boardroom table in the right office space or could be the most incredible dining table or office desk.
A big table with a big personality.
As always, feel free to get in touch to view at our central London space. Our kettle is always on during the day or we can chat about furniture all evening over a glass or two of wine!
